iPhones, iPod Touch, and Connectivity

Two interesting data points today: First, the nationwide shortage of iPhones would seem to indicate that Apple is about to launch a new version - especially since it's timed with the CTIA show this week in Vegas.

And second, I learned today that Meebo gets 3x as many daily users on their service from iPod Touch models than from iPhones, even though there are many, many more iPhones in the world than Touches. Even though Meebo and similar services are the only messaging app available for the Touch, while the iPhone provides a lot more in the way of communication options, this still came as a surprise. I don't have the exact numbers on how many Touches have been sold vs how many iPhones, but I'm guessing that this means that a Touch user is, what, 10x as likely to use Meebo as an iPhone user? Something like that.

Interesting.
